Where are your people from? Maybe Mississippi or an Island
Apparently your skin has been kissed by the sun
You make me want a Hershey’s kiss, your licorice

Every time I see your lips, it makes me think of honey-coated chocolate
Your kisses are worth more than gold to me
I’ll be your almond joy, you’ll be my sugar daddy

I cant tell where yours begins, I cant tell where mine ends
Need some every now and then:oh hey:

Every time you come around, something magnetic pulls me and I cant get out
Disoriented, I cant tell my up from down
All I know is that I wanna lay you down

Every time I let you in, abracadabra magic happens as we swim
Higher and higher finally we reach heaven
Come back to earth and then we do it all again
Yeah:..

Brown skin, you know I love your brown skin
I cant tell where yours begins, I cant tell where mine ends
Brown skin, up against my brown skin
Need some every now and then:oh hey:

Skin so brown, lips so round
Baby how can I be down?
Beautiful mahogany, you make me feel like a queen
Tell me what’s that thing you do that makes me wanna get next to you, yeah

Brown skin, you know I love your brown skin
I cant tell where yours begins, I cant tell where mine ends

All around the world communities or nations use various words and names to signify fusion people with a mixed ancestry, racial, cultural and ethnic heritage. In some cases these terms are offensive or deemed inoffensive but in the end it does not matter, as the significance of this classification is slowly but surely becoming obsolete as the world is progressively becoming more diverse and fused.

The many guises and faces of people of colour:

Afatasi: Mixed ancestry between Samoan and White (Samoan)

Afrasian: Mixed ancestry between an African and Asian

Africasian: Mixed ancestry between an African and Asian.

Ai no ko: Child of unlike things put together (Japanese)

Ainoco: Mixed ancestry between White and Japanese (Brazil)

Do people of mixed race feel caught between two stools or are they nestling in the best of both worlds? As delegates from more than 150 countries gather at the World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in Durban, South Africa, Outlook examines inter-racial relationships.

Britain currently has one of the highest rates of inter-racial relationships in the western world, with 50% of all black children born having one white parent. Whether we view such unions as positive multiculturalism or not, the truth is that mixed race relationships are a fact of life.

So why is it still so hard to find a suitable term to describe mixed race people? Is it right to say that someone is black or white? Let alone half-caste, bi-racial or coffee-coloured?

And what do the children from inter-racial relationships signify in 21st century Britain?
